4 Quick & Easy Tips for DIY Shoe Repair
Shoe repair can be expensive, even if it’s for little damage. Your Jimmy Choos are already expensive enough, so why spend more money on things you can take care of yourself? We’ve put together a list of easy DIY shoe repair tips that you can use for minor damage to your heels, flats, sneakers, and sandals.

Fix nicks with nail polish
This tip works best for leather, patent leather, or vinyl shoes. It’s possible that your shoes might have scratches and cuts from daily use, and a little wear and tear, spoiling their appearance. You can try using nail polish of the same shade to cover the scratches. This also gives that little area extra strength! You can also use permanent markers and cover it up with clear polish for a well-finished look.

Stretch your shoes out with water
Are your new shoes too tight? Brand new shoes can give you shoe bits if they’re too tight. You can loosen them up a little by filling a Ziploc bag with water and putting it into your shoe, and then freezing it. The water in the bag expands while freezing, hence making more space in your shoes! Once you’ve taken out your shoes from the freezer, let them thaw for 20 minutes and wipe them down. Then, you’re ready to use them!

Fix small scratches and scuffs
You can fix scratches and scuffs on dark leather shoes with a tiny bit of shoe polish. For smooth leather, you can use clear polish, and then buff it for a clean, blended finish. Buffing is a good way to take care of your leather shoes. As for patent leather, you can use glass cleaner to fix tiny scuffs on them.

Repair floppy soles
Sometimes, your shoes can end up with loose, floppy soles with regular use and wear and tear. Instead of giving it to a cobbler right away, you can fix it yourself! Take off the sole from the bottom of your shoe, and clean any debris on both with a damp cloth, and allow it to dry. Then apply some superglue on to the borders and inside of your sole, and stick it back on to the bottom. Place heavy weights on to your soles for about 24 hours to secure it, and voila! You have a fixed sole.
